- Finding My Note -

[Luke 10:25]

One day an expert in religious law stood up to test Jesus by asking him this question: “Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?”

[Matthew 22:34-36]

But when the Pharisees heard that he had silenced the Sadducees with his reply, they met together to question him again. 35 One of them, an expert in religious law, tried to trap him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?”

[Matthew 22:37-40]

37 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”

5 purposes of the church…Discipleship, Worship, Fellowship, Serving

Finding Peace with yourself to make sure my note is right.

3 Key Areas to think about:

Insecurity

- Shortcoming…Your best wasn’t good enough

- Tried Hard and didn’t measure up

- Malcolm Gladwell (Ivy League issues)

- Gave my all to a relationship and they chose somebody else

- worked my hardest at the job and still came up

- insecurity around who I am

Fall short and still hold your head high…Faith & Obedience

[I John 4:11-12]

Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. 12 No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.

[I John 4:17]

And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect.

Integrity

- Character Flaw…shamefully action

- violated my own conscience

- Did something wrong and you knew better

- Can’t undo the past, can’t unsay, maybe not forgiven, some irreparable damage

[I John 1:9]

But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

[James 5:16]

Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.

Restoration is always the goal - Owning it, healing from it, then moving past it

Injury

- Traumatic event…Somebody took something from you

- Big T vs Little T Trauma

- molested, abused, dehumanized

- transcends the rational

- lingers emotionally even when it’s overcome mentally

- Stockholm syndrome

[Matthew 5:44-45]

But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! 45 In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven…

[Matthew 5:46-47]

If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much. 47 If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that.
