[II Peter 3:18]

…you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

[Matthew 4:20]

And they left their nets at once and followed him.

[Matthew 10:38]

If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine.

[Matthew 10:34-39]

Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! I came not to bring peace, but a sword. 35 ‘I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 Your enemies will be right in your own household!’

[Isaiah 9:6] 740 BC

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

[Luke 2:14]

“Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

[John 14:27]

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

[John 16:33]

I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

[John 20:19]

…while the disciples were together with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them. "Peace be with you!" He said to them.

[John 20:21]

Again Jesus said to them, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent Me, so also I am sending you."

[John 20:26]

Eight days later, His disciples were once again inside with the doors locked, and Thomas was with them. Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you.”

[Matthew 10:34-39]

Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! I came not to bring peace, but a sword. 35 ‘I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 Your enemies will be right in your own household!’ 37 “If you love your father or mother more than you love me, you are not worthy of being mine; or if you love your son or daughter more than me, you are not worthy of being mine. 38 If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine. 39 If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it.

[Matthew 13:10]

His disciples came and asked him, “Why do you use parables when you talk to the people?”

[Matthew 13:13]

To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge.

[Matthew 13:34]

Jesus always used stories and illustrations like these when speaking to the crowds. In fact, he never spoke to them without using such parables.

[Matthew 5:14-16]

“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

[Matthew 6:1-4]

“Watch out! Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven. 2 When you give to someone in need, don’t do as the hypocrites do—blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets to call attention to their acts of charity! I tell you the truth, they have received all the reward they will ever get. 3 But when you give to someone in need, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. 4 Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
