Secure people do more right on accident than insecure people do on purpose.

Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death?

[Ephesians 4:4-7]

For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. 5 There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all, in all, and living through all. 7 However, he has given each one of us a special gift through the generosity of Christ.

Your relationship to your GIFT will make you or break you.

1. God gave you gifts, they belong to Him, and your will steward it for a season.

[I Corinthians 12:4-7]

There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. 5 There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. 6 God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us. 7 A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.

[Acts 17:28]

For in him we live and move and exist.

2. Your gifts are designed to connect you to people not elevate you above them.

[I Corinthians 12:4-7]

The eye can never say to the hand, “I don’t need you.” The head can’t say to the feet, “I don’t need you.”

If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad.

Are we all apostles? Are we all prophets? Are we all teachers? Do we all have the power to do miracles? 30 Do we all have the gift of healing? Do we all have the ability to speak in unknown languages? Do we all have the ability to interpret unknown languages? Of course not! 31 So you should earnestly desire the most helpful gifts.

3. Your gifts are not designed to bare the weight of your security.

4. When your security is not in your gifts you are free to find fulfillment in them.

[Romans 12:6-8]

In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. 7 If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. 8 If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

  • What gifts has God given you to steward in this season?

  • Have you experienced someone using their gift to elevate themselves above others? What can that experience teach you about how to view your own gifts?

  • In the past, where have you fallen into the trap of placing your security and identity in your gift?

  • What does fulfillment in your gift look like in your world?
