When they arrived, Samuel took one look at Eliab and thought, “Surely this is the Lord’s anointed!” But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

People may be pure in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their motives.

How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart? Cleanse me from these hidden faults. 13 Keep your servant from deliberate sins! Don’t let them control me. Then I will be free of guilt and innocent of great sin. 14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.

The first step in keeping your heart clean is to recognize that sometimes it gets dirty.

The second step is to learn how to purify your heart.

God cares much more about the ATTITUDE of your heart, than the MAGNITUDE of your sin
